Reading/Writing SKILLS & COMPUTER LAB
Take this opportunity to work on your reading and writing while improving your computer skills. You will split your time between a classroom and a computer lab. Two teachers will work with you individually and in small groups. You’ll learn spelling, grammar, how to write good sentences, paragraphs and organize an essay. You’ll practice basic computer skills, keyboard and mouse, internet, word processing and more. This duo-course is for adults who want to improve reading/writing and computer skills.

Math Skills (CLASS FULL)
Take this opportunity to brush up and learn new math skills. You and your teachers will identify your individual math needs and make a learning plan. The teachers will work with you individually and in small groups. Topics may include basic math, fractions, decimals, pre-algebra, algebra and more. This course is appropriate for adults who want to improve math skills.

GED/Academic PREPARATION (CLASS FULL)
This course helps you prepare for the GED, with subjects in Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, and Math. The teacher will work with you on these subjects and help you prepare for the practice tests. This course is appropriate for adults who are working on GED subject skills and academic preparation.

GED TESTING
This testing is for adults who have been enrolled in GED preparation classes and are ready to take the official GED tests. Call the Adult Education Office to make an appointment for GED testing.

TRUCK DRIVERS LICENSE TRAINING (CDL Class A or B)
You must have a clean driving record, pass a DOT physical or have had one within the last 6 months, be familiar with standard transmission, be at least 18 years old, and hold a valid Class C license. Drug testing is required. Call Donna 743-8842, ext 9525 for info.

Orientation: Tuesday June 15, 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Room A102 at OHCHS
Classes: Tuesday & Thursday beginning June 17, 4:00 – 8:15 pm, for 15 weeks
Class A: Tuition $3,800 – 104 hours class & lab time and 44 hours range & road time
Class B: Tuition $2,450 – 98 hours class & lab time and 30 hours range & road time
Summer courses are conducted by Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education, in cooperation with the South Paris Career Center and Western Maine Community Action, WMUCC and Vocational Region #11-Oxford Hills Technical School.

Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education
Registration: We do not accept online registrations at the present time.
Anyone 17 years or over is eligible to attend Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education. Additional criteria apply to students seeking their Diploma or GED; also to students applying for CNA and CDL/Truck-Driving programs.
Register in advance for all courses. Register early because courses fill quickly. Courses with insufficient advance enrollment will be cancelled.
Register by mail anytime. The Adult Education office in OHCHS, South Paris is open for walk-in registrations, or by phone if using a credit card. Adult Education office hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 9 pm.
All courses have a registration fee unless otherwise noted. We can waive tuition fees for diploma, GED and ABE students taking Academic courses. We charge all students book, lab and material fees, as noted.
The Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education program reserves the right to alter courses scheduled and held, listed in the brochure and website, to meet program needs and requirements. Proper notice of course changes will be given to registered students.
Payment must accompany registration. We do not send out written confirmations on registrations you mail or bring in to us. You cancelled check is your receipt.
Refund Policy:
Registration fee: We will contact you if a course is cancelled or already full, and issue a full refund. If you register for a course and decide to cancel, you must notify us BEFORE the first day of class to get a refund. We issue no refunds after a course begins. We offer no refunds for one-session courses.
Book deposit: Some courses have a book deposit fee. If students pay the deposit fee, and return the book (with a copy of the receipt) then Adult Ed will issue a refund. Refunds take 2-3 weeks to process and will be mailed to students.

The Adult Learning Center has moved from its former location at the Little Yellow Schoolhouse to the Fox School, Main Street in South Paris. We are excited to share the large Fox School space with Oxford Hills Christian Academy. The new Adult Learning Center at Fox School is bigger and brighter than our old space yet still handy for students. New signs at the Fox School point out the Adult Learning Center of Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education. The telephone number of the Adult Learning Center is now 739-2274 and its hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 am to 3 pm. Contact the main office of Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education for information on courses at the Adult Learning Center, 743-8842, press 1.

The office and classroom for the Buckfield location of Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education were re-located over the summer of 2009. Signs are posted in Buckfield Junior/Senior High School and direct you to the Adult Education office and classroom. The telephone number for the Buckfield location is 336-2151. You can also call the South Paris office of Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Education with any questions, 743-8842 and press option 1.
